[Japanese | English]A friend of mine gave us tickets for "Family Concert 2011" by the Waltham Symphony Orchestra (WSO) on Sunday afternoon. WSO is a full-complement symphony orchestra composed of seasoned professionals, semi-professionals and amateur musicians (admitted via audition only) and their music is quite serious. It was only two days since the Great Japan Earthquake, but I was under intense stress even though in the US. I was relieved much by their high-level music.
Yuki, a daughter of our friend, played several movements from Symphonie Espagnole by Edouard Lalo, as a violin soloist. She also played "Thais Meditation" mourning thousands of victims and encouraging affected people. Yuki is only 13 year old, but has very strong powers of expression. I did not wipe away a stream of tears, and after which I was quite clear.
Following video shows Yuki playing at Synta Pharmaceuticals on April 21.
